Brewing Opportunity and Belonging

Not a Coffee Drinker?

Founded with a vision to make a difference, MOXI Junction was created to be a place where everyone belongs. At the heart of our mission is the belief that everyone deserves a chance to thrive. That’s why we employ and train teens and adults with special needs—giving them the tools, experience, and confidence to succeed in the workplace and beyond.

We’re proud to be part of the Maize community, and everything we do—from brewing your favorite latte to showcasing local artwork—is rooted in purpose.

The Bigger Impact

What Your Support Fuels

When you support the MOXI Foundation, you're helping fund job training and employment for teens and adults with special needs. But the impact doesn’t stop there—you’re helping build a future where everyone has a place and a purpose.

Moms of eXceptional Individuals

A Special Place to Eat, Work

MOXI Junction is the dream and unique creation of founder Joanna Kilgore. After her autistic son Laren graduated high school, he often found himself with nothing to do all day and no incentive to get out of bed. After years of preparation and planning, Joanna built the coffeeshop and settled on the name MOXI Junction, which is an acronym for Mothers of Exceptional Individuals. In August of 2014 MOXI opened its doors for the first time.

The purpose and mission of MOXI has been to employ and train young adults with special needs while providing high quality goods and services to the community. Currently we employ anywhere from one to three college students, and five to twelve young adults with special needs who serve as bakers, cashiers, cleaners, and landscapers, In addition to helping our employees, we also provide support to various community groups such as the Special Needs programs at Maize and Colwich, Heartspring, Rainbows United, and the Ability Point.
